Arch Manning and the Texas Longhorns are looking to return to prominence after a disappointing 2025 college football season. The Longhorns started the season with tremendous expectations, starting as the No. 1 overall-ranked team in the AP preseason poll for the first time in program history.
Texas did not have an easy go of it last season. With arguably one of the hardest schedules in the country, the Longhorns performed admirably. In games against AP top ten opponents, Texas beat the Oklahoma Sooners, Vanderbilt Commodores and the in-state rival Texas A&M Aggies, while losing to the Georgia Bulldogs and Ohio State Buckeyes. Head coach Steve Sarkisian led the Longhorns to a 10-3 record, including going 6-2 in SEC play.

Texas is led by Manning, its star quarterback. As the No. 1 overall recruit, along with being the nephew of Indianapolis Colts legend Peyton Manning and New York Giants great Eli Manning, Arch arrived in Austin with a high profile. He sat for two years behind current Miami Dolphins quarterback Quinn Ewers before getting his chance to start in 2025. This past season, Arch threw for 3,163 yards, 26 touchdowns and seven interceptions on an 661.4% completion percentage.
The Longhorns have faced strife so far in the spring. It was announced on Tuesday that Kaliq Lockett underwent surgery and will most likely miss the rest of the spring. The talented five-star receiver isn't the only player with injury concerns, as reports out of Austin detail injury concerns about Ryan Wingo, Trevor Goosby and their star quarterback.
"Injury Updates: Arch Manning Threw on Tuesday but was limited," Orangeblood.com wrote on X. "Coach Sarkisian said Ryan Wingo and Trevor Goosby were limited, too Manning, Wingo, and Goosby continue to progress after having a surgeries in January. 2 new Longhorns just recently had surgery and will miss the rest of spring ball, @AnwarRichardson provides more injury updates here"
The Longhorns will face Texas State to open the season on Sep. 5th.
