Texas has rightfully earned the No. 1 ranking in the country, and yet, Arch Manning hasn’t exactly lived up to the hype this season.
Through his first four games this season, Manning has completed 63.5% of his passes for 862 yards with seven touchdowns and three interceptions. Outside of an explosive opener against Texas State, the nephew of Eli and Peyton hasn’t really shown superstar potential in Austin.
Earlier this week, ESPN’s Josh Pate unveiled his rankings for every quarterback in the SEC. While it might come off as harsh, Pate has Manning ranked outside of the top five for his own conference.

In fact, Pate currently has Manning ranked as the ninth-best quarterback in the SEC.
Here’s the top 10:
- Trinidad Chambliss
- Kamario Taylor
- Keelon Russell
- Austin Simmons
- Gunner Stockton
- Aaron Philo
- Sam Leavitt
- Kenny Minchey
- Arch Manning
- Jared Curtis
Will Arch Manning stay at Texas for the 2027 season?
While on “The Herd” this Tuesday, former NFL quarterback and Heisman Trophy winner Robert Griffin III urged Manning to return to Texas for the 2027 season.
“I believe he should come back for another year,” Griffin said. “When guys are ready to go to the NFL, playing college football looks easy for them. For myself when I came out, when Andrew Luck came out, it looked easy in our last years. It doesn’t look easy for Arch yet.”
A little over a month ago, former ESPN analyst Todd McShay suggested that Manning could stick around for another year with Steve Sarkisian.
Only time will tell if Manning feels ready to take his talents to the NFL.
