Anthony Richardson's time with the Indianapolis Colts appears to be coming to a close.
According to ESPN's Stephen Holder, the Colts plan to have Daniel Jones as their starting quarterback going forward, meaning Richardson will likely be on a different team in 2026.
Richardson hasn't requested a trade yet, but it's "beginning to feel inevitable," per Holder.
Richardson was picked fourth overall in the 2023 NFL Draft out of Florida. The Colts thought they were getting their next franchise quarterback, but it hasn't worked out as they expected.
Injuries and inconsistent play have plagued Richardson in his NFL career. He played in only four games during the 2023 season, totaling 577 yards through the air, three touchdowns and an interception.
He then played in 11 games during the 2024 season, finishing with 1,814 yards passing, eight touchdowns and 12 interceptions. He only played in two games this past season.

Teams that are looking to change their quarterback room could look to Richardson if he does request a trade from the Colts.
The Colts started the 2025 season with such promise, winning seven of their first eight games. They were looking like one of the best teams in the NFL until Jones tore his Achilles on Dec. 7 against the Jacksonville Jaguars.
Jones finished the year with 3,101 yards through the air, 19 touchdowns and eight interceptions. This was his first season with the Colts.
The Colts lost eight of their final nine games to end the 2025 season.
