Anthony Kim is currently competing at LIV Golf Hong Kong. However, he took time to share an update that embodies thankfulness and a purpose outside of the golf course. The former PGA Tour golfer disclosed that he and his wife, Emily Stanley, have made the decision to fund mental health programs in the areas where LIV Golf events take place as a way of giving back to the community.
Taking to social media, Kim shared how grateful he has been with all the blessings he and his wife received over the past few weeks. Acknowledging the love towards the family, the LIV Golf star announced that starting this week’s event, the couple will donate 1% of his earnings from the event for a special cause.
“We will donate 1% of my prize money 2 supportin a mental health charity in that city”, the 40-year-old wrote. He further asked his followers to suggest a few organizations that could benefit from their help. The initiative will launch at the LIV Golf calendar's stop in Hong Kong and continue throughout the season.
Given his own turbulent professional golf career, Kim's announcement has deeper significance. The former world no. 5, who was formerly one of the sport's most promising young players, gained notoriety with three PGA Tour victories and an exceptional showing in the 2008 Ryder Cup. But for over ten years, he was unable to play competitive golf due to personal issues and injuries, leaving fans to wonder if the flamboyant golfer would ever make a comeback.
Following Anthony Kim’s return to the professional circuit with LIV Golf in 2024, the move gave one of golf’s most promising talents a fresh chapter. The move paid off when Kim won his maiden event during last month’s LIV Golf Adelaide, marking one of sports' most remarkable comebacks.
The 40-year-old currently holds the T-24 position in Hong Kong, after a three under par in the first round. With the Mexican Carlos Ortiz leading the event at -10, Kim hopes to produce another comeback performance at the Hong Kong Golf Club.
