Mike Trout has had an electric start to his 16th season with the Los Angeles Angels. Across his first 17 appearances, the 34-year-old owns a .222 batting average, .388 on-base percentage, .895 OPS, five home runs and 13 RBIs.
Trout has also been largely available, missing only one game this year due to a left hand contusion. His health had been a recurring issue since entering his 30s, but so far he appears to have moved past those concerns.
The Angels sit at 9-9, and if they have any hope of making their first postseason appearance since 2014, it will be because of Trout’s efforts.

Trout has been particularly dominant during Los Angeles’ current series against the New York Yankees. Through the first two games, he has launched three home runs and driven in six RBIs, carrying the Angels’ offense against one of the American League’s top teams.
As the Angels look to take the series on Wednesday, Trout took to Instagram to make an announcement. He revealed that he has partnered with Flex Work Sports Management, a sports event company specializing in athlete-led youth camps.
Trout announced he will host his first ever camp on June 25, in Irvine for boys and girls ages 6-13. The event will take place during the season on an Angels off-day, allowing Trout to fit it into his schedule.
“Excited to kick off my first youth sports camp this summer with @flexworkmgt. Looking forward to getting out on the field, working on the fundamentals, and putting in some good work together. Check the link in my bio to sign up!” Trout wrote in the collaborated post.
As Trout looks to make an impact in his community, he remains one of the best players to influence the next generation. Across his 16-year career, he has been an American League Rookie of the Year, three-time MVP, 11-time All-Star and nine-time Silver Slugger.
Trout is still searching for postseason success, and he hopes this is the year the Angels finally break through with the current group.
