Mike Trout is having a resurgent season for the Los Angeles Angels. Trout currently has eight home runs in 25 games, putting him on pace for 50 home runs in 156 games played. Although Trout is second among active players in career home runs (411) to New York Yankees slugger Giancarlo Stanton (456), the most he has ever hit in a single season is 45.

Trout had a record-setting series against Aaron Judge and the Yankees. The 6-foot-1 outfielder tied the record for home runs in a series against the Yankees (five) and became the first visiting player to homer in four consecutive games at the current stadium.

On Wednesday, against the Toronto Blue Jays, Trout crushed a 428-foot solo homer in the fifth inning. The hit brought his extra-base hit total to 796, tying him with Angels legend Garret Anderson for the franchise record. Anderson died last week at age 53 due to acute necrotizing pancreatitis.

The official Angels account went to social media to celebrate the home run. On X, the Angels posted a GIF of the 2026 Angels home run banner, quoting the post with “MIKEEEE TROUTTTTAAA HEREEEE!!!” Angels PR then quoted the tweet, putting it into historical context and letting the public know that Trout had tied Anderson for the franchise record.

“Mike Trout’s homer is his 796th career extra-base hit,” the Angels wrote. “It ties Garret Anderson for the Angels’ franchise record.”

Los Angeles will head to Kansas City for a three-game series against the Royals on April 24.
