Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream picked up their 29th win of the season on Monday night. They strengthened their hold on the No. 4 spot in the WNBA standings with a 29-14 record.
Reese posted another double-double with 18 points and 10 rebounds in their 95-84 win over the New York Liberty. Jordin Canada added 19 points and nine assists in the road victory.
Liberty star Breanna Stewart led the game in scoring with 27 points and 14 rebounds. Jonquel Jones had an 18-point, 12-rebound double-double for New York, but the team’s collective effort still wasn’t enough to defeat the Dream.
Reese and Jones went back-and-forth throughout the game. The two WNBA stars traded baskets at one point, prompting an on-court exchange. Both Reese and Jones busted out the “too small” celebration against each other.
Reese’s gesture toward Jones, and vice versa, drew reactions from fans on social media.
“iron sharpens iron. dawg against dawg. the postseason going to be lit!” a fan said.
“Angel is on different level this season,” a comment mentioned.
“Training with Team USA has turned Angel into a monster!” a supporter exclaimed.
“Angel Reese so good for the league 🔥,” a fan said on their repost.
“✋ absolute cinema 🤚,” added another.
“I love it,” one fan commented.
Reese has been incredible since returning from her gold-medal-winning stint with Team USA at the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup. In the last three WNBA games, the 6-foot-4 forward has amassed 71 points, 30 rebounds, nine assists and six blocks.
Reese will make her first WNBA playoff appearance this year after missing the postseason with the Chicago Sky the past two years. The two-time WNBA rebounding leader will look to help lead the Dream to their first WNBA championship in franchise history.
