Atlanta Dream forward Angel Reese is ranked fifth in the latest WNBA Finals MVP odds after their Game 1 win against the New York Liberty.
The Dream drew first blood in their best-of-five semifinal series against the 2024 WNBA champions on Sunday. Atlanta secured a 92-82 win in front of their home crowd, with four players scoring in double digits.
Among them was Reese, who stuffed the stat sheet with 17 points, seven rebounds, two assists, three blocks and four steals.
The Dream, now 3-0 in the playoffs, are just two wins away from punching their ticket to the WNBA Finals.
On Monday, Yahoo Sports posted an update on the Finals MVP race, and Reese currently has +900 odds to win the individual award, per FanDuel.
Golden State Valkyries’ Gabby Williams leads the category at +300, and reigning league MVP A’ja Wilson of the Aces is just behind at +330.
Reese’s other two teammates, Rhyne Howard and Allisha Gray, are above her at +650 and +800, respectively. Rounding out the top six is Liberty’s Breanna Stewart at +1200.
Reese is averaging 15.0 points, 8.7 rebounds, 2.3 blocks, and 2.0 steals in three playoff games with the Dream. This is the 6-foot-4 forward’s first trip to the postseason after missing the playoffs in her first two seasons with the Chicago Sky.
On October 1, the league named Reese the 2026 WNBA Defensive Player of the Year after she recorded 521 rebounds (a new WNBA single-season record), 77 steals and 32 blocks in the regular season. She was Atlanta’s defensive stalwart, and her presence down low played an integral role in the team’s success.
The Dream will still host the Liberty for Game 2 of the semifinals on Wednesday. Tipoff from State Farm Arena is scheduled for 7:30 p.m. ET on ESPN.
