The Chicago Sky announced that they had traded two-time WNBA All-Star Angel Reese to the Atlanta Dream on Monday in exchange for a 2027 first-round pick and a 2028 first-round pick. Reese, 23, was drafted with the No. 7 overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft by the Sky, making 64 career appearances and averaging 14.1 points, 12.9 rebounds and 2.7 assists.
As explained in a statement from General Manager Jeff Pagliocca, the move was viewed as a beneficial separation for both parties.
“The Sky are trading Angel to the Dream in exchange for two first-round picks," said Pagliocca. "This trade is designed to achieve roster balance and represents a great opportunity for all parties."
For Reese, this automatically puts her in a position to contend for a title on a Dream squad that racked up a franchise-high 30 wins last season. As many fans also pointed out on social media, the trade also shifts the dynamic of the WNBA's biggest rivalry, which takes place between Reese and Indiana Fever star, Caitlin Clark.
The two have been perceived as rivals since their college days, and when they played one another in the WNBA, the matchups frequently set viewership records. With Reese now on the Dream, many fans may be wondering when she will face off against Clark.
When do the Atlanta Dream play the Indiana Fever

Not only do the Dream play the Fever before the Sky do, but fans will also be treated to one more matchup between the two teams. Here are the four times that the Dream and Fever are scheduled to play one another in 2026:

With Reese getting a bit more help around her, she may be able to close the gap in terms of her record against Clark. In regular-season matchups, Clark holds a 4-1 record against Reese.
Although the rivalry will look a bit different, the new threads and teammates for Reese may only elevate it.
