Angel Reese’s 2026 WNBA season is still alive.
The Atlanta Dream took down the Washington Mystics in the first round of the WNBA Playoffs earlier this week. On Sunday, the Dream started their second round series against the New York Liberty. And it was an impressive performance by the Dream.
Atlanta topped New York, 92-82, in Game 1 on Sunday. Reese, a three-time WNBA All-Star, had a big performance. She totaled 17 points and grabbed 7 rebounds, while adding four steals and three blocks, in the huge Game 1 victory.
Following the game, she took to X, making sure to taunt her critics following the huge Game 1 win.
“DUBS IN THE MF CHATTT,” she wrote on X, in a post liked more than 13,000 times within a few hours.
Dream star Jordin Canada had a big game, scoring 20 points.
“Everybody stepped up, and that’s what we need,” Canada said postgame, per the Associated Press. “Next man up mentality. I just tried to do what I do best. I tried to be aggressive, find my shots and take my shots with confidence.”
The Dream had a tough start, but were able to rebound.
“We knew we didn’t play our best in the first half,” Canada said. “We gave up a lot of defensive assignments, we weren’t playing up to our schemes and we just weren’t being aggressive enough on the offensive end.”
Dream head coach Karl Smesko was happy, too.
“I thought we had a great third quarter,” Smesko said. “They made a run at us, but we were just able to make enough plays down the stretch to close them out.”
Game 2 of the WNBA Playoffs second round series is set for Wednesday evening in Atlanta. It should be a fun one for the Dream.
