Atlanta Dream star Angel Reese was impressive for Team USA in the FIBA World Cup. In six games throughout the tournament, she averaged 7.2 points and 5.0 rebounds, while leading the team in blocks (0.8) and finishing second in steals (1.2).
Reese’s best game came in the group stage against Czechia, during which she tallied 13 points, six rebounds and three steals.
Moreover, in the final against France, she made the most of her limited time on the court. She recorded three points, three rebounds, one steal and one block in nine minutes of action, helping Team USA secure a 97-79 win and the championship.
Following her first FIBA World Cup championship, Reese celebrated with her teammates, even sharing a moment with Indiana Fever star Caitlin Clark.

However, the Dream forward didn’t forget to honor one of the most important people in her life. Reese also turned the spotlight on her mother in an emotional tribute on social media.
“You’ve seen me win at every stage of my life, but the biggest win I’ve ever had is being able to call you Mom,” Reese wrote on X, along with a photo of herself and her mother celebrating the World Cup win on the court. “I love you.”
Reese’s path to becoming a pro hooper was influenced by Angel Webb Reese, a basketball player herself. She played college ball for the University of Maryland, Baltimore County before playing professionally in Luxembourg, per People.
With her first World Cup championship, Reese certainly made her mom proud once again.
