Carter is a Texas native who played her college basketball for the Texas A&M Aggies, earning All-American honors during her senior season. She was selected by the Atlanta Dream with the No. 4 overall pick in the first round of the 2020 WNBA Draft and spent her first two seasons with the franchise before playing for the Los Angeles Sparks in 2022.
She later joined the Chicago Sky in 2024, where she formed a dynamic duo with Reese, but failed to earn a spot on a WNBA roster in 2025. Carter most recently went overseas to China for the 2025 season, suiting up for the Wuhan Shengfan. On Wednesday, the Las Vegas Aces announced that they had signed Carter to a training camp contract ahead of the 2026 WNBA season, marking her return to the WNBA.
"Officially Official. The biggest stage just got BIGGER." Carter wrote on Instagram. "Hollywood x Vegas—perfect fit. ♠️🌴🎰 @chennedycarter"
Reese reacted to the post, replying "rooting for you Chen!! 🤍"
Atlanta will host their home opener against Las Vegas on May 17 at 3:00 p.m. ET.
