Angel Reese’s 12th game as a member of the Atlanta Dream did not end the way she hoped. Facing the New York Liberty on Thursday, Reese turned in her best offensive performance of the season, finishing with a season-high 25 points along with nine rebounds and three assists. However, it was not enough to prevent Atlanta from falling 104-90 to New York, and snapped the Dream’s two-game winning streak.
Despite the defeat, Atlanta remains fourth in the WNBA standings at 8-4 and Reese has been a major reason why. Through her first 12 games with the Dream, she has continued to establish herself as one of the league’s most dominant frontcourt players, averaging 14.6 points, 11.9 rebounds and 3.2 assists per game while leading the WNBA on the glass.

Against the Portland Fire on May 29, Reese became the fastest player in WNBA history to reach 900 career rebounds, accomplishing the feat in just 71 games. On Tuesday, she also set the league record for most double-doubles through a player’s first 75 career games, recording her 57th against her former team, the Chicago Sky.
Those accomplishments have strengthened her case as one of the league’s leading Defensive Player of the Year candidates and positioned her well for what could be a third consecutive WNBA All-Star selection.
With All-Star voting officially opening this week, Reese made her own push for support. The Dream shared a social media post encouraging fans to vote for her, which Reese reposted to her Instagram Stories. She also shared a similar post from her Unapologetically Angel podcast account, urging supporters to help send her to Chicago for the midsummer showcase.
Reese earned her first two All-Star selections during her time with the Sky. After being drafted seventh overall in 2024, she immediately became one of the league’s biggest stars, leading the WNBA in rebounding and setting numerous rookie records. She followed that up with another All-Star campaign in 2025 before being traded to Atlanta this past offseason.
The 2026 AT&T WNBA All-Star Game will be held on July 25 at the United Center in Chicago, with fan voting running through June 27. The game will be broadcast nationally on ABC at 8:30 p.m. ET.
If her first 12 games in Atlanta are any indication, Reese appears well on her way to making another appearance.
