Angel Reese and the Atlanta Dream swept the Washington Mystics 2-0 in the first round of the WNBA playoffs. Atlanta won by double digits in both games, closing out the series in style with a 93-75 victory in Game 2.
Allisha Gray led the way for the Dream during Wednesday’s game, recording 22 points, three assists and four steals. Jordin Canada added a near triple-double of 19 points, seven rebounds and 11 assists, along with three steals.
Reese, for her part, tallied 15 points, seven rebounds, two assists and three blocks.
Despite the win, though, the game wasn’t without issues for the Dream. For one, the referees assessed Reese with a technical foul in the fourth quarter of the game, which puts her in line to pay a $500 fine to the WNBA.

Gray also came close to receiving a technical foul, or worse, getting ejected from the game. With 3:13 remaining in the fourth quarter, Mystics playmaker Sonia Citron shoved the Dream guard. Naturally, Gray didn’t appreciate the move and was ready to confront Citron after she got up.
Fortunately, Reese was quick to hold back Gray and pull her away, although the Dream star can be seen in a video still shouting at Citron. No other tech or unsportsmanlike conduct was called despite the tense moment.
Reese, Gray and the Dream are now moving on to the WNBA semifinals. However, they will need to be more careful about their antics and gestures on the court since the technical foul limit in the postseason is four. Once they reach the limit, they will be suspended for one game.
The Dream face the New York Liberty in the semifinals. Game 1 of the series starts on Sunday.
