Angel Reese’s fans continue to praise her for her dominance on the board. However, others criticize her for inefficiency, particularly inside the paint.
Cameron Brink dominated Reese during one sequence in the first quarter of the Atlanta Dream-Los Angeles Sparks game on Monday night. She blocked Reese twice in five seconds, frustrating the three-time All-Star.
Reese brought the ball down to Atlanta’s attack zone. She didn’t waste time putting on the moves as she made her way to the basket. Reese posted up the Sparks forward and spun before attempting a shot, but Brink timed her contest perfectly.
Reese recovered the ball and attacked once again, ending with the same result. She sat on the floor after the ball was tapped out, clearly unhappy with the referees’ decision not to call a foul on Brink.
Reese and the Dream have secured a playoff spot but are not slowing down. They have their sights set on securing a top-three seed.
Reese is coming off two huge games, posting a career-high 31 points versus the Phoenix Mercury on Saturday. The 24-year-old recorded 20 points on 9-of-9 shooting, along with 10 rebounds and eight assists in their 124-88 win over the Aces two days earlier.
The former LSU star kept her foot on the gas on Monday. She helped lead the Dream to a 78-71 victory with a historic performance. Reese amassed 26 boards to set a new WNBA record for most rebounds in a single game. She added 11 points, three assists and three steals in another stellar performance.
