WNBA star Angel Reese exhibited her rebounding prowess at the 2026 FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup.
Reese has built a reputation as a tenacious rebounder in the WNBA, averaging a double-double in her first three seasons.
The Atlanta Dream star was called up to the national squad for the ongoing FIBA World Cup. Reese made sure to showcase her elite rebounding skills on the world stage.
The seventh pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft came off the bench in Friday’s tournament opener against China. Reese was matched up against the opposition’s most towering frontcourt players.
Zhang Ziyu and Han Xu are China’s formidable frontcourt duo, and Reese held her own against them. The Dream forward helped Team USA secure the dominant 94-61 win.
In one of the plays during the game, Reese outrebounded the 6-foot-8 Han for an offensive putback. Unfortunately, the basket didn’t count as Reese’s shot came after the buzzer.
Reese finished with a team-high nine rebounds. This led to FIBA declaring a new nickname for the three-time WNBA All-Star.
“Queen of boards 👑,” the post read.
The 6-foot-4 forward added five points and one block in 16 off the bench.
Reese has carried over the momentum from her record-breaking WNBA season to the World Cup. She recently set the WNBA record for the most rebounds in a single game (26) against the Los Angeles Sparks on Aug. 24.
Days later, she broke Alyssa Thomas’ previous record of 28 double-doubles in a season, as Reese recorded her 29th double-double of the campaign.
She will look to keep her foot on the gas when Team USA returns to action on Sunday against Italy.
