Atlanta Dream superstar Angel Reese dropped one of the best stat lines in franchise history on Saturday night.
Reese and the Dream traveled to Arizona to face the Phoenix Mercury at the PHX Arena. This was their third straight road game.
Reese led the way for Atlanta as they secured a 99-89 win, finishing the game with a career-high 31 points, 14 rebounds, two assists and four steals.
According to StatMuse, no other Dream player in franchise history has matched Reese’s unprecedented numbers.
“Angel Reese vs Phoenix: 31 PTS (career-high), 14 REB, 4 STL, the first player in franchise history with those numbers in a game,” the caption read.
This marked Atlanta’s third straight win, which allowed them clinch a postseason spot. They also leapfrogged the Indiana Fever for the No. 4 seed in the standings with seven games remaining in the regular season.
They now have a 24-13 record, half a game ahead of the Fever and only 1.5 games behind the No. 3 seed Las Vegas Aces.
Reese also made history in their previous game against the Los Angeles Sparks on Thursday. The former LSU star became the second player in WNBA history to record at least 25 double-doubles in a single season, joining Alyssa Thomas in the category.
The seventh overall pick in the 2024 WNBA Draft also set the record for the most offensive rebounds in a single season with 175 and counting. Furthermore, she became the first player in league history to rack up a 15/5/5 line on 100% shooting in the first half.
With another double-double output against the Mercury, she’s only three away from breaking Thomas’ single-season record of 28 double-doubles in one season.
