Angel Reese angered Team USA fans with her apparent “selfish” decision among teammates this week.
The Atlanta Dream third-year forward is one of 12 players competing for Team USA at the 2026 FIBA Women’s World Cup in Berlin, Germany. Reese, a three-time WNBA All-Star, is looking to play a key role in the paint for the American squad.
But while Team USA is sponsored by Nike, Reese has no interest in promoting The Swoosh. Reese is sponsored by Adidas. Reese chose to wear a throwback Reebok tracksuit to a game, rather than wearing her team-issued Nike gear.
Nike isn’t going to like that.
“Angel Reese stayed loyal to Reebok, pulling up to the FIBA Women’s Basketball World Cup in a vintage Dream Team-era tracksuit instead of the team’s Nike tracksuit,” Nice Kicks shared on X.
But was this a cool move or a selfish move?
Fans criticize Reese’s decision
“So once again she thinks she’s above the team when she hasn’t earned it and social media plays into it,” one fan wrote.
“I’m confused ,are you suggesting that she didn’t wear the Nike team USA track suit which team USA , and every player contracted to team USA agreed to wear, only to snub it for her own personal contract which would be superseded by the team USA contract, all for her personal gain?” one fan added.
“Selfish,” one fan added.
“Reebok suit is infinitely better. Mad funny that Nikes making the same product years later and it’s worse… isn’t that embarrassing?” one fan added.
“Yeah…loyal…Angl Reese isn’t loyal to anyone but herself. He’ll, she’d probably sell herself out for the paycheck. Make no mistake, she isn’t number one on her list, she’s the only one on her list,” one fan added.
What do you make of Reese’s decision?
