Andrade El Idolo has opened up about the moment he learned that PAC had died, revealing that WWE star Penta was the first wrestler to call him with questions about what had happened. Andrade had just competed against PAC in the late wrestler’s final match at AEW All Out and initially hoped the news was only a rumor.

PAC, whose real name was Benjamin Satterley, died at 40 on September 27, less than 24 hours after wrestling Andrade at All Out in Hoffman Estates, Illinois. Satterley was later found unresponsive inside a vehicle in Des Plaines, Illinois, at around 4 p.m., and the Cook County Medical Examiner’s Office pronounced him dead at 4:08 p.m. Authorities have said there were no signs of foul play, while the cause and manner of death remain pending additional testing.

Andrade had been away from social media after the pay-per-view, but that changed when Penta called him. The WWE star wanted to know whether Andrade knew anything about PAC or whether something had happened during their match.

“I still can’t believe it! I was arriving home in Miami, having decided to take a break from social media for a day or two, when I got a call from Penta asking if I knew anything or if something had happened during the match. I told him, “I don’t believe what you’re telling me,” and he said, “I don’t believe it either.” We thought it was just a rumor, “Let’s hope it’s just a lie!” Andrade wrote on Instagram.

The two wrestlers initially struggled to believe what they were hearing. AEW National Champion said they hoped the reports were false until calls and messages started arriving from wrestlers across different promotions. He eventually contacted the AEW office, where the news was confirmed.

“I started getting messages and calls from wrestlers across various promotions, I spoke to the AEW office, and they confirmed the news was true. It was something I never imagined!”

Andrade had defeated PAC to retain the AEW National Championship at All Out, but his memories of the match now carry a very different meaning. He said PAC looked healthy and performed at his usual level that night, adding that his opponent was looking forward to returning to London to see his family.

“He looked so good on Saturday, we finished the match, and Ben was happy about heading back to London soon to see his family.” I never imagined it would be his last match, we both knew we had more to give. He was someone I always wanted to wrestle, and I enjoyed sharing the ring with him,” Andrade wrote.

The Mexican star also explained how much he admired PAC as a performer. Andrade said PAC pushed him to give more in their matches and seemed to improve every year.

“He was such a special wrestler, he had it all and he always pushed me to give that little bit extra, he just kept getting better.”

Although they had been part of the same wrestling promotions, including WWE and NXT, Andrade said they never faced each other until AEW. Their All Out bout was only the third time they shared the ring in the Jacksonville-based promotion.

Andrade also recalled a lighter moment from the night, noting that Bandido had given PAC a Santos Laguna shirt. The two joked that its colors resembled Celtic’s, a small memory Andrade included in his farewell.

“My friend, you were incredible inside the ring nobody like you and outside of the ring You had a big heart! We were in so many of the same promotions at the same time but never faced each other (NJPW, NXT, WWE), and we only got to face off three times in AEW! I’m going to miss you, Amigo! Wherever you are now, sending you a huge hug!
I’ll never forget this match! Forever Pac,” Andrade wrote.

PAC’s final match now carries added significance for Andrade, who said he will never forget sharing the ring with someone he had wanted to wrestle for years. AEW will also honor PAC on Dynamite, giving the wrestling community another opportunity to remember his career and the impact he made before his sudden passing.
