Aliyah Boston, Sophie Cunningham and the rest of the Indiana Fever are having another great season this year. They have qualified for their third straight playoff berth and are currently No. 5 in the WNBA standings.
The 2025 WNBA Commissioner’s Cup champions have also broken their all-time record for single-season wins. They now have 25 against 14 losses with five games remaining in the regular season.
The Fever are led by Caitlin Clark, Kelsey Mitchell and Boston. Indiana’s three-headed monster is currently averaging a combined 63.9 points, 13.9 rebounds and 14.1 assists per game.
However, no team can sustain the success they’re currently enjoying without a solid second unit. Sophie Cunningham is the Fever’s leader off the bench, averaging 8.4 points, 2.3 rebounds and 1.3 assists.
The eight-year veteran is also one of Indiana’s most reliable shooters. She’s shooting 47.6% from the field and 44.1% from three, both career highs.
Because of her tremendous performance, Cunningham is in the running for the 2026 WNBA Sixth Player of the Year Award. The Fever have continued their campaign for the 6-foot-1 guard, sending a message on social media on Thursday.
“Sophie Cunningham for 6th Player of the Year 😮💨” the team posted on Instagram.
In just her second year with the Fever, Cunningham has established herself as one of the team’s vital pieces. She’s also among the vocal leaders on the squad and their on-court enforcer.
To show her support, Boston shared the Fever’s post to her Instagram stories along with a two-word comment.
“3’s up 🤑🤑,” Boston captioned her post.
Apart from Cunningham, Boston is also campaigning for her other teammates: Mikayla Timpson for Most Improved Player and Caitlin Clark and Kelsey Mitchell for MVP. Boston also shared the Fever’s post about her potentially being named to the All-WNBA team.
If Cunningham wins Sixth Player of the Year, this will be her first major individual award in the WNBA.
