Unfortunately for FOX host Rebecca Lowe, she had to helplessly watch England lose 2-1 to Argentina in the World Cup semifinals.
After grabbing a 1-0 lead in the second half, England was content with letting Argentina spend the last 20 minutes of the match in their defensive third. That ended up being a recipe for disaster, as Lionel Messi set up Enzo Fernández and Lautaro Martínez for goals in the 85th and 92nd minutes.
Once this semifinal match went final, FOX's Alexi Lalas paid respect to his British colleague.
"I would expect nothing less, but Rebecca, I know you are a human being first and foremost, and I know that you are an England fan and what you saw and experienced emotionally," Lalas said, via Awful Announcing. "And we see it all over the place. This was an incredible run. You’re also an incredible professional in what you do because I know you’re feeling it right now, as all of the England fans are, to get so close. But we love you, and we love this team and what it brought to this tournament."

It's been a heartbreaking World Cup for FOX's studio crew.
Zlatan Ibrahimovic had to watch his country, Sweden, lose 3-0 to France in the Round of 32. One round later, Lalas witnessed Belgium dismantle the United States by a final score of 4-1.
Thierry Henry had high hopes for France, but Didier Deschamps' squad was outclassed by Spain in the semifinals.
And then as we just mentioned, Lowe had to watch England suffer a second-half collapse against Argentina.
Luckily for FOX's studio crew, they don't have to worry about getting their hearts broken in the final.
