The Toronto Blue Jays snapped a six-game losing streak on Wednesday, defeating the Los Angeles Dodgers 4-3. Now 12 games into the 2026 MLB season, the World Series runner-ups are off to a shaky start, sitting at 5-7. They haven't won a series since sweeping the Athletics with three straight wins to open the year.
While looking to turn things around, the Blue Jays are dealing with some injuries early on. In Friday's loss to the Chicago White Sox, starting catcher Alejandro Kirk left the game early due to a left thumb injury and did not return.
Unfortunately, for Toronto, Sportsnet's Arden Zwelling reported on Tuesday that the 27-year-old had to undergo surgery and is expected to miss around six weeks.

While the seventh-year veteran may not be back in the lineup for over a month, he's still making moves off the field. On March 26, Old Mill Cadillac posted a video featuring Kirk to commemorate opening day while teasing that there is "More to come!"
That preview set the stage for an exciting announcement. On Thursday, Kirk took to Instagram to post a joint video with Old Mill Cadillac, revealing an official partnership with the dealership.
"Welcoming Alejandro Kirk | @alexkirk5 to the Old Mill Cadillac family ⚾️ We’re proud to kick off an exciting partnership with Alejandro with the baseball season underway. It was an incredible moment having him at the dealership, connecting with our team and community! 👏🏻 Big things ahead, on and off the field. Let’s make it a season to remember!! ✨," the post's caption read.
Last season, he was a major contributor to Toronto's success. Earning an All-Star appearance, he accumulated 127 hits, 15 home runs (career-high), 76 RBIs (career-high), 48 walks, 45 runs scored and a .769 OPS.
With this latest partnership revealed, the 2022 Silver Slugger continues to focus on getting back to full strength. The Blue Jays will no doubt be eager to get Kirk back into the lineup as soon as possible.
