There is a lot of uncertainty surrounding Ty Simpson's future. After spending the last four years with the Alabama Crimson Tide, he prepares for the next step in his football journey. Widely regarded as one of the top quarterback prospects in the 2026 NFL Draft, he is expected to be selected within the first two rounds.
In his lone season as Alabama's starter, Simpson had solid numbers. In 15 games, he completed 305-of-473 passes for 3,567 yards, 28 touchdowns, five interceptions and a 145.2 passer rating. He also rushed for two touchdowns and 93 yards. After participating in the NFL scouting combine, he continues to have workouts and meetings with interested teams.

One team he's spent extra time with is the New York Jets. While speaking to SNY's Chelsea Sherrod on Tuesday, head coach Aaron Glenn, who is going into his second year with the team, recapped the Jets' private workout with Simpson.
“He’s extremely smart, you can tell he works his (expletive) off,” Glenn said. “I mean, even in the workout we had, he was very detailed in everything he wanted to do… We’ll see how this process goes. You know, but he did a good job.”
After going 3-14 last season, New York has already made changes to its quarterback room. While shipping off Justin Fields to the Kansas City Chiefs, the Jets acquired Geno Smith from the Las Vegas Raiders.
However, at 35 years old, Smith likely isn't the team's long-term solution at quarterback. With four picks in the first two rounds, the Jets are viewed as a serious contender to land Simpson.
In Mat Miller's latest mock draft for ESPN, he predicts New York will scoop him up with the No. 33 pick. Glenn's praise for Simpson following their private workout only fuels speculation with the draft set to begin on April 23.
