Nate Oats led the Alabama Crimson Tide to a Sweet 16 appearance in his seventh season with the team. However, their run at a national championship ended there, losing to the No. 1-seeded Michigan Wolverines 90-77. It was still a solid year, going 25-10 and 13-5 in SEC matchups.

Now into the offseason, Oats and his staff are attempting to navigate transfer portal movement. So far, the Crimson Tide has lost three players, with guard Jalil Bethea (Pittsburgh Panthers), forward Taylor Bol Bowen and center Aiden Sherrell all departing. After bringing in four players last year, though, they have shown the ability to attract talent.

As the offseason rolls on, the Crimson Tide continues to weigh their options. On3's Jamie Shaw reports that Alabama is one of several teams pushing for former Central Arkansas Bears guard Camren Hunter.

"The 6-foot-3 guard has held Zoom meetings with Villanova, Auburn, NC State, and High Point," Shaw wrote. "He is in the process of scheduling dates with Alabama, Notre Dame, and Ole Miss."

The guard is coming off an impressive season with the Bears. He started in 34 games, averaging 21 points (led the team), 4.2 rebounds and 2.7 assists. He also shot 50.6% from the field and 36.9% from the three-point line.

His performance on the court led to some exciting honors. Hunter was named the Atlantic Sun Conference Player of the Year and earned All-ASUN first team honors. Looking for a new home, On3 Industry Rankings list him as the No. 64 point guard to hit the transfer portal this offseason.

However, after using up all of his eligibility, On3's Joe Tipton reports that Hunter is pursuing an additional year. Despite the uncertainty, Alabama continues to show interest. If the Crimson Tide come out on top, he would be their second addition, alongside forward Brandon Garrison (Kentucky Wildcats).
