Although it sounds too absurd to be a true, Akron's football team is offering a lucky fan a chance to be the team's "offensive coordinator" for its home opener.
The official X account for Akron's football team announced that a lucky season-ticket holder will get to "design the opening drive" against Robert Morris on Sept. 12. The winner of this contest will be randomly selected on Aug. 19, per the university's news release.
Not only will current season-ticket holders receive an entry for this promotion, they can receive additional entires by referring other season-ticket holders.
Akron coach Joe Moorhead will work with the contest winner to make sure the Zips are in the best shape possible for their opening drive.
"I'm looking forward to collaborating with the season ticket holder who wins this contest," Moorhead said. "This will give our fans a behind-the-scenes experience that has never been done before anywhere, so I'm excited to show them how to put together the opening script and see what they can do."

Fans had mixed responses to Akron's promotion.
It didn't take very long for college football fans to share their thoughts on Akron's unprecedented season-ticket promotion.
"No shot I'm punting. If I dial up a TD, I'm not turning over the headset," one fan replied. "Accept this as part of the deal and you have a new season ticket holder, Akron."
"My 2nd down fake field goal is going to be AWESOME," a second person wrote on X.
"The funniest possible outcome of something like this is some Akron fan demanding a double reverse flea flicker that gets intercepted by Robert Morris for a picks six… and Akron losses the game by 6 points," another person commented. "Let’s just say this promotion would never be run again."
"Triple. 4 Verts. Rinse and repeat," another social media user replied.
After going 5-7 last season, Akron is trying to shake things up for the fall. We can't blame the athletic department for going all out with this stunt.
