A'ja Wilson dominated the Chicago Sky on Sunday, leading the Las Vegas Aces to a 107-99 win. However, she admitted that it wasn't easy, especially after going head-to-head with Kamilla Cardoso.
During her postgame availability, the four-time MVP showered the third-year center with praise. Wilson discussed the improvement she has seen in Cardoso's game. She highlighted her footwork and compared her to a league legend.
"Yeah, it's always so much fun going against her because Camilla's footwork is one of the best ever," Wilson said. "It kind of puts me in my frame of mind, kind of like a Sylvia Fowles, the way that she can be light on her feet. The way that she can position herself to get the basketball to score in traffic. So it's always hard to show her different looks. So I try my best with what I can.
"But seeing her growth from a rookie year to now, from South Carolina to now, it's been fun to kind of watch her shine in this space."
Wilson is clearly a big fan of her fellow USC alum. Cardoso did all she could for the Sky on Sunday with 24 points on 10-of-15 shooting. The 6-foot-7 center also added eight rebounds, two assists and two steals in 30 minutes of action. It was an impressive effort against the four-time WNBA MVP.
A'ja Wilson, Aces Dominate Chicago Sky
Wilson was even better. The three-time champion center recorded 30 points, 15 rebounds, four steals and three blocks. She shot 8-of-14 from the field and 13-of-16 from the free-throw line.
Jackie Young added 28 points, five rebounds and eight assists, while Chelsea Gray contributed 18 points, six rebounds and eight assists.
Las Vegas will play four of its next five games at home, starting with another matchup against the Sky on Friday. Chicago, on the other hand, will embark on a three-game road trip. It will face the Phoenix Mercury four days after the Aces game.
