The Air Jordan 9 OG ‘Space Jam’ (HV4794-106) has been back for less than a month, and resale prices are already telling a story. Originally introduced in 1993, Tinker Hatfield’s Air Jordan 9 became a movie legend when Michael Jordan wore this colorway in the 1996 film Space Jam. The sneaker returned in September for $215, but with Jordan Brand reportedly reducing Retro releases in 2027, I’m not expecting major discounts anytime soon.

The ‘Space Jam’ sits near the top of my Air Jordan 9 rankings. Tinker Hatfield’s white leather, black nubuck and True Red branding deliver timeless Chicago Bulls energy. The special Tune Squad packaging adds collector appeal.

Unlike the colorful ‘What The Kilroy’ Low or rugged ‘Iridescent’ Boot NRG, this is an everyday sneaker with genuine history. MJ never wore the AJ9 in an NBA game, but his appearance in Space Jam cemented this colorway’s legacy. Even the famous Michael Jordan statue outside Chicago’s United Center wears the Air Jordan 9.

Should You Buy the Air Jordan 9 ‘Space Jam’ Now or Wait?

I’d buy now if the price is close to retail. Nike CEO Elliott Hill wants to restore scarcity to Jordan Retros, which could support resale prices.

I’ve worn Jordan 9s since 1993, and their comfort, durability and unmistakable shape keep me coming back. At $220–$250, this is a strong pickup. Above $300, I’d be patient. My prediction? Most sizes hold near current asks through the holidays, while sizes 14–17 keep their premiums.
