The timing is weird, but as of now, it appears you'll be able to check the usual suspects for pairs on release day, at least while supplies last. The Knicks drops December 24 at $215 via Nike SNKRS, Foot Locker, Finish Line, Hibbett, DSG and Shiekh.
The Air Jordan 8 'Chrome' drops earlier in the fall if you want an AJ8 without the Christmas Eve hassle.
What's the Bulls-Knicks Rivalry Connection?
The Bulls-Knicks rivalry was arguably as intense as Chicago's rivalry with the Pistons. The AJ8 dropped in 1993 when the Bulls were finishing off their first three-peat. Chicago went through the Knicks all three years en route to the NBA championship.
The Knicks got their revenge in 1994, sort of, when they beat the Bulls in seven to reach the NBA Finals. However, that was the first year of MJ's retirement before he came back toward the latter part of the 1994-95 season. The Air Jordan 6 'White Infrared' is another championship-era silhouette returning in 2026.
Why Did It Replace the Cavs Colorway?
Good or bad, the Knicks are the Knicks, and that carries more weight. Also, the colorways are similar, so the pivot is more natural and still maintains the color balance Jordan Brand was probably after with their 2026 releases. The Bulls-Cavs was an intense rivalry too, but the AJ8 silhouette better aligns with the Knicks rivalry.
The Cavs colorway was originally slated for September 2026 before being scrapped. The Air Jordan 10 'Sacramento' is another team-inspired colorway on the 2026 calendar if rival themes are your thing.
Should You Buy the Air Jordan 8 'Knicks'?
I'm not a fan of the Knicks colorway on the AJ8 silhouette. Also, I'm not enthused about fighting for a pair of sneakers on Christmas Eve. That said, some may feel differently, and I'm sure those that do will be in the fray on December 24.
