The Air Jordan 6 ‘Sport Blue’ is reportedly coming back in Fall 2027, and this is one return I have been waiting on. I own multiple Jordan 6s, but I passed on the 2014 retro because the Jumpman heel never looked right on an original colorway that began with Nike Air. With that branding expected to return, the ‘Sport Blue’ is moving toward must-cop territory.

Where Can You Buy the Air Jordan 6 ‘Sport Blue’?
Sneaker Files and Sneaker Bar Detroit report the Air Jordan 6 ‘Sport Blue’ is expected back in Fall 2027 with Nike Air returning to the heel. Nike has not officially announced the release date, style code or price, so those details remain preliminary.
The timing is wild. The Carmine is expected in March, the Light Aqua in June, and Sneaker Files reports Nigel Sylvester’s Air Jordan 6 for Summer 2027. We are still in 2026, and Jordan Brand is already applying pressure.
What Makes the Air Jordan 6 ‘Sport Blue’ Stand Out?

Simplicity is bliss here. Smooth white leather covers most of the upper, with perforations cutting through Tinker Hatfield’s sculpted panels. Black settles around the tongue and heel, while Sport Blue hits the lace lock, branding, midsole and outsole. An icy translucent bottom keeps the finish crisp.
To me, it is the cool-blue cousin of the ‘White/Infrared.’ Jordan 6s wear better than their bulky profile suggests. The pairs in my rotation have a cushioned interior, supportive midsole and comfortable true-to-size fit. They are easy to put on and surprisingly light once you start moving.
Why Does the Air Jordan 6 ‘Sport Blue’ Matter?
The Department of Nike Archives lists the Air Jordan 6 as a 1991 Tinker Hatfield design and notes Michael Jordan wore the silhouette while leading Chicago to its first NBA championship. Nike also says Hatfield drew inspiration from Jordan’s German sports car, helping explain the sleek, sculpted shape.
The ‘Sport Blue’ was one of five original AJ6 colorways and returned in 2014 after 23 years. That retro used Jumpman branding. Nothing is wrong with the Jumpman, but OG colorways should preserve their original Nike Air identity. I was around for the original, and that 2014 switch never hit home for me.
Should You Buy the Air Jordan 6 ‘Sport Blue’?
If Nike Air lands on the final 2027 pair, I am in. The white-and-blue palette is ridiculously wearable, the history is real, and I already know the Jordan 6 works for my feet and rotation. I’m already thinking about these with a Chicago Bears jersey.
Sneaker News reports Jordan Brand is expected to significantly reduce Air Jordan 1 High releases in 2027. Looking at this AJ6 calendar, I have to wonder if the 6 is about to absorb some of that attention. Between ‘Carmine,’ ‘Light Aqua,’ Nigel Sylvester and ‘Sport Blue,’ 2027 is starting to feel unfair.
