The Free the Youth x Air Jordan collab is one of my favorites. The Ghanaian-based group has partnered with Jordan brand in the past, and it appears this upcoming launch will deliver even more depth with the upcoming AJ3 release. Let's talk sneakers.

Free The Youth isn't a sneaker brand. Founded in 2013, FTY is a Ghanaian-based collective that blends streetwear, creative agency work and community projects aimed at empowering African youth and exporting Ghanaian culture to a global audience.
Their Jordan Brand relationship started with a friends-and-family Air Jordan 1 Mid, and they're also lined up to help relaunch the Air Jordan 16 in Summer 2026. The AJ3 is the middle chapter — and the first one the public can actually buy.
The design is loud on purpose. Early descriptions point to a bright pink-to-purple gradient upper that shifts from the toe through the midfoot and collar, with purple-toned elephant print replacing the classic grey on the toe and heel panels.
Clear Jade accents hit the eyelets and collar lining, providing sharp contrast against the pink/purple base. "FTY" replaces standard Nike Air branding on the heel — a move that mirrors what Awake NY did with the Air Jordan 5, swapping legacy branding for collab identity. The blacked-out midsole and outsole ground the whole thing, keeping the upper from tipping into sensory overload.
FTY and EMEA SNKRS partners get the December 4 launch, with wider SNKRS and NBHD retailers following on December 11. That staggered approach tends to build organic buzz — by the time the global drop arrives, early pairs are already circulating on social media and resale data starts shaping demand expectations.
Positioning-wise, this collab sits in strong company. Holiday 2026 is already anchored by the Air Jordan 11 "Space Jam" return and the AJ13 "Chicago" — two legacy retros that will dominate the conversation. The FTY x AJ3 is the collab play in that window, and its cultural narrative gives it a dimension that straight retros can't match. Jordan Brand has leaned into culture-driven storytelling on recent collabs, and this one carries more weight than most.
The estimated $225–$250 retail actually undercuts several recent premium AJ3 collabs. Whether resale follows depends on allocation, but the combination of a bold colorway, a meaningful backstory and a staggered rollout puts this pair in a strong position heading into the holiday calendar.
