The 2026-27 NBA season tips off with a star-studded tripleheader, and yet, fans aren’t exactly pleased with Adam Silver’s schedule.
Although the New York Knicks will begin their title defense this Tuesday night against LeBron James and the Philadelphia 76ers, they’re not featured in the first game of the season. That honor belongs to the Boston Celtics and Detroit Pistons.
Tipoff for the Celtics-Pistons game is at 3 p.m. ET on NBC. There’ll be plenty of intrigue surrounding that matchup since Boston is entering a new era that doesn’t include Jaylen Brown.
While the Celtics-Pistons game should be fun to watch, fans have a huge issue with the league kicking off its new season in the middle of the afternoon.

“Adam silver has the 1st game of the nba szn starting at 3pm on a Tuesday … ok,” one fan said.
“Still hard to believe the NBA’s opening night game is Tuesday at 3PM,” a second person wrote on X.
“Europe never caters to America, but somehow we’re over here risking players lives and having working hour start times for season openers. This is just so so low of us as a society. We were the standard,” another person commented.
“He’s the worst commissioner ever,” another fan declared.
What’s the remaining schedule for this Tuesday?
The 76ers-Knicks game will be played at 7 p.m. ET on NBC. According to reports, the get-in price for this matchup is around $1,850.
After the 76ers-Knicks game wraps up, NBC will televise a Western Conference Finals rematch between the Oklahoma City Thunder and San Antonio Spurs.
