The end of Sunday’s game between the Commanders and Giants could have far-reaching consequences, according to ESPN’s Adam Schefter.
After Washington threw away a chance at a game-winning field goal in overtime due to poor clock management, the NFL insider went on “Get Up” and predicted that the mistake could ultimately cost Dan Quinn and others in the future.
Even likening it to the infamous fallout from the “Miracle at the Meadowlands” where Giants OC Bob Gibson and head coach John McVay eventually lost their jobs.

Adam Schefter predicts there will be ‘consequences’ from Commanders’ Week 5 tie
“It’s the coaching equivalent of what the Giants went through in the late ’70s— there were consequences, and we don’t know when it’ll be, but I would imagine in time there’s going to be consequences from this game,” Schefter explained on the “Get Up” desk.
Afterwards former Jets coach Rex Ryan weighed in on the situation. Calling it one of the “dumbest” things he’s ever seen on a football field.
“The dumbest thing I’ve ever seen in my life,” Ryan exclaimed. “This has never happened, there’s no chance in hell this has ever happened, and it won’t happen again. Our lifetime, our kids’ lifetime, their kids’ lifetime. This is atrocious!”
“We’ve seen the worst clock management ever in the Super Bowl,” Ryan added, referring to Quinn’s 2016 Falcons. “How about we own this one too? This stuff right here gets you fired. And Dan’s a great guy, but not for long when you manage games like this.”
There’s no defending Washington let the game slip away from them like it did. And with team owner Magic Johnson already voicing his displeasure with the situation, it may not take long for heads to roll in Landover.
