Chelsea Gray had an incredible game for the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday as they defeated the Indiana Fever at Gainbridge Fieldhouse.
The defending WNBA champions were down by 20 at one point. The 12-year veteran nailed the three-pointer to tie the game, 75-75, and sent it to overtime. She also made the game-winning shot in overtime to defeat the home team, 86-84.
Gray finished the game with 11 points, two rebounds, seven assists and four steals. She was 4-of-10 from the field and 3-of-5 from beyond the arc. The win helped the Aces improve to 22-9 this season, placing them just 2.5 games behind the league-best Minnesota Lynx.
However, an incident occurred during the third quarter when two Fever fans were removed from the game. The fans were chirping at Aces guard Jackie Young. The Las Vegas players complained to the referees, and the two courtside supporters were ejected.
After the game, Gray was asked about the incident during her post-game interview.
“I don’t know the specifics, but stuff gets said on the sideline quite often,” said the 5-foot-11 Aces guard.
Young said that the fan was talking to her the whole game and she let him be. However, the fan made a statement that went too far, and that’s when they informed the officials.
“It wasn’t directed at me; it was directed at Jackie (Young),” Gray added. “She told somebody, and clearly they found reason to kick him out.
“They had a reason to kick him out. They don’t just do that for nothing.”
It is unclear what the fans said to warrant the ejection.
Las Vegas will travel to the Target Center for their next game to face the top-seeded Lynx on Saturday.
