ACC Football Team Win Totals and Predictions for 2026

As the 2026 college football season draws near, Athlon Sports’ writers break down the betting landscape and share their picks for the ACC.

After a run to the national championship game last season, Miami hopes to accomplish something in 2026 that the program has yet to do since joining the ACC in 2004: win a conference title. The Hurricanes are heavy favorites to win the ACC crown this fall, as coach Mario Cristobal’s program is the only team in the conference with an over/under win total higher than nine (10.5) this preseason. With quarterback Darian Mensah and a standout defense in place, not only is Miami aiming to dominate the ACC, but Cristobal has assembled a loaded roster for another shot at the national title.

Louisville (8.5) and SMU (8.5) headline the next tier of teams in over/under win totals, followed by Clemson (7.5), Virginia (7.5), Pitt (7.5) and NC State (7.5). Stanford (3.5) and Boston College (3.5) have the lowest totals this offseason.

Best ACC Over/Under Bets for 2026

Florida State (Under 6.5)
If quarterback Ashton Daniels is solid and a revamped offensive line quickly falls into place, a bowl game should be within reach for Florida State. Getting to six wins wouldn’t necessarily cool the pressure on coach Mike Norvell, but there are enough favorable matchups to get to 6-6. However, considering the preseason question marks, anything beyond six wins feels like a major reach for this team. With Norvell on the hot seat and the potential for an in-season change, things could quickly fall apart in Tallahassee, dropping the ‘Noles to the under on the win total. -Steven Lassan

Louisville (Over 8.5)
The Cardinals play two of their toughest games in September against Ole Miss and SMU, both of which are winnable. From that point on, they should handle the rest of their ACC schedule (with no Miami, Clemson, Virginia or Virginia Tech) and rival Kentucky. Coach Jeff Brohm can be trusted to deliver at this point, having won eight or more games in three seasons at his alma mater. -Kyle Wood

SMU (Over 8.5)
SMU is 20-7 over the last two seasons, and another run at double-digit wins is within reach with quarterback Kevin Jennings returning in 2026. The Mustangs have a few tough road tests — at Florida State, Louisville, Syracuse and Notre Dame — but a four-loss regular season would be a surprise. 10-2 or 9-3 should be the most likely outcomes for coach Rhett Lashlee’s squad. -Lassan

North Carolina (Under 4.5)
There was cautious optimism heading into Bill Belichick's collegiate debut. But after a rousing disappointment in Year 1 and an uninspiring offseason, the Tar Heels are in a bad place. Their roster is clearly not up to snuff and the schedule is daunting with trips to Clemson and Virginia and visits from Notre Dame, Miami and Louisville. Another season-opening loss to TCU could set the tone for a rough campaign. -Wood

Boston College (Under 3.5)
Not only are the Eagles undergoing a major roster overhaul after last year’s 2-10 record, but coach Bill O’Brien’s squad faces one of the toughest slates in the ACC. Boston College opens with challenging non-conference matchups against Cincinnati (away) and Rutgers (home) before visiting Notre Dame in mid-November. A 1-3 projected record in non-conference matchups means the Eagles need to find three wins in ACC play to hit the over. With games against five of Athlon’s projected top eight ACC teams, it’s tough to find a path to 4-8. -Lassan

Syracuse (Over 4.5)
Fran Brown's second season coaching the Orange was off to a strong start before quarterback Steve Angeli was injured. Eight straight losses followed. But with Angeli back, Syracuse is positioned to turn things around — provided it can win on the road. Swing games at North Carolina and Boston College are key to a push toward bowl contention. -Wood
