LeBron James and the Philadelphia 76ers are off to a strong start to the 2026-27 NBA season, winning their first two games against the New York Knicks and Cleveland Cavaliers. Philadelphia will look to maintain its perfect record as it begins a busy stretch of games.
James has made an immediate impact since joining Philadelphia, averaging 15.5 points, 9.5 rebounds and 6.0 assists alongside Tyrese Maxey, Joel Embiid and Jaylen Brown. He recorded 17 points, 10 rebounds and five assists in Thursday’s 114-106 comeback victory over Cleveland.
The 76ers are fresh off a remarkable comeback from a 29-point deficit against the Cavaliers. However, managing the workload of their veteran stars will be important as Philadelphia navigates its early-season schedule, particularly with consecutive games this weekend.

James has now been ruled out of Saturday’s game against the Milwaukee Bucks as Philadelphia manages his lower back and sciatica. The decision means the 76ers will have to adjust their lineup for the matchup at Xfinity Mobile Arena.
Maxey could shoulder more of the offensive responsibility, while Brown and Embiid will also play meaningful roles as the 76ers try to extend their winning streak.

The game against Milwaukee is the first half of a back-to-back for Philadelphia, which faces the Detroit Pistons on Sunday. Managing James’ workload early in the season could help the 41-year-old remain available throughout the campaign.
The 76ers will hope their depth can compensate for his absence against the Bucks before they turn their attention to Sunday’s matchup with Detroit.
