7 U.S. States Bracing For 'Extreme' Cold On Super Bowl Sunday

Seven major U.S. states are bracing for "extreme" cold temperatures on Super Bowl Sunday.

Super Bowl 60 is set for Sunday night. Kickoff is scheduled for 6:30 p.m. E.T. The Seattle Seahawks will be taking on the New England Patriots.

It's a good day to stay inside.

Seven major U.S. states are bracing for extreme cold on Sunday. Temperatures are expected to drop into the single digits in some U.S. states.

Seven major U.S. states bracing for extreme cold on Sunday:

  • New York
  • New Jersey
  • Vermont
  • Massachusetts
  • Virginia
  • Maryland
  • North Carolina

"The cold wind chills as low as 10 below zero could result in hypothermia if precautions are not taken," the alert reads.

"Use caution while traveling outside. Wear appropriate clothing, a hat, and gloves."

As a reminder, here's how to deal with extreme cold:

  • Minimize travel.
  • Stay indoors during the worst part of the extreme cold.
  • Keep a winter survival kit in your vehicle if you must travel.
  • Check tire pressure, antifreeze levels, heater/defroster, etc.
  • Learn how to shut off water valves for potential pipe bursts.
  • Check on the elderly.
  • Bring pets inside.
