While the San Francisco 49ers haven't shared any discouraging updates on Nick Bosa, fans are getting awfully close to hitting the panic button.

Bosa, a five-time Pro Bowler and former Defensive Rookie of the Year, had his 2025 season cut short due to a torn ACL. It's the third time in his career that he's suffered this injury, so fans were initially patient with his recovery process this offseason.

“I had a little tendinitis from my high school ACL, and he cleaned that up while he [fixed] my ACL,” Bosa said, via Albert Breer of Sports Illustrated. “That's gone. So it’s like an improvement. So once I'm through this rehab, I feel like my right knee—because that was kind of a chronic issue that I had a little bit, and he cleaned that up in my quad tendon and that hasn't been an issue at all—could feel better when I'm done with this recovery.”

So what's the latest on Bosa? According to reporter Al Sacco, the 49ers didn't have their All-Pro on the field for Thursday's practice.

"Nick Bosa not practicing again today? Do we know if the soreness was due to the knee?" Sacco said. "Totally get giving him rest and going slowly, that makes sense. Also kinda holding my breath every time I see the injury report."

This cryptic update from Sacco has 49ers fans worried about Bosa.

"I really hope this is all just precautions and something is not actually wrong," one fan wrote on X.

"It’s all over Al, window only getting smaller. I mean they can’t get through an *August* practice let alone the regular season. 7-8 wins if they are lucky. Beyond frustrating there’s no ring but hey. Back to the drawing board," another fan said.

The 49ers need Bosa healthy.

When healthy, Bosa is a game-changer for the 49ers. Despite missing time due to injury, he has racked up 278 tackles, 168 QB hits, 64.5 sacks and 13 forced fumbles in his NFL career.

If Bosa is going to miss time this season, the 49ers will need Alfred Collins, Osa Odighizuwa and C.J. West to step up in the trenches.

The 49ers will kick off their season on Sept. 10 against the Los Angeles Rams.
