The Philadelphia Eagles face the Baltimore Ravens this weekend in the team's first preseason game. With less than a month until the regular season, here are four players fighting for a roster spot who need a strong performance against the Ravens to strengthen their case.
Ty Robinson
Robinson was selected in the fourth round of the 2025 NFL draft. Robinson was viewed as an interior pass rusher coming out of Nebraska, tallying seven sacks and 12 tackles for loss in his final season. That did not translate to the NFL, with Robinson having a poor rookie season in which he barely saw the field.
He played just 104 defensive snaps, 51 of which came in Week 18 when the Eagles sat most of their starters. In his limited time, he did not record a sack and generated just two pressures and one quarterback hit.
Robinson won't see too many snaps behind Jalen Carter, Jordan Davis and Moro Ojomo, but snaps are not the concern. The concern is whether Robinson can show enough development to retain a roster spot over the other young players who have already shown more in the regular season.
Johnny Wilson
Wilson missed all of 2025 due to a knee and ankle injury that occurred during training camp. Wilson returned to find a more competitive and deeper wide receiver room than years past.
In June, head coach Nick Sirianni labeled Wilson a "dirty work" player alongside Darius Cooper. Since then, Cooper has emerged as one of the early standouts in camp, consistently proving to be a reliable target. Wilson hasn't had a bad camp, but he appears to be falling behind Cooper and new addition Elijah Moore in the battle for the limited roster spots.
While Wilson doesn't provide the added value of a punt-returner role, his 6-foot-6, 228-pound frame and ability as a blocker give him a physical presence that the rest of the room lacks.
Chance Campbell
Campbell's young career has been plagued by injuries. Originally drafted by the Tennessee Titans in the 2022 NFL draft, he was placed on injured reserve twice in his first three seasons with the team, appearing in just four games total.
The Ole Miss product spent the entirety of last season on the Eagles' practice squad. Defensive coordinator Vic Fangio had high praise for Campbell, telling reporters to remember him when making 53-man roster predictions.
"Don't sleep on Chance now, you guys, when you make your list out there," Fangio said. "We like Chance. Chance is a good football player."
Chance still faces an uphill battle due to the talent in the Eagles' linebacker room. Zack Baun has been named to the Pro Bowl the last two seasons, while, after a strong rookie season, Jihaad Campbell will have an increased role with the departure of Nakobe Dean. Fangio said that Jeremiah Trotter Jr. looks the best he ever has.
Smael Mondon Jr. is the final name that will most likely make the roster due to his contributions on special teams, but a strong performance from Chance could either steal the spot or force the Eagles to keep five linebackers.
Jakorian Bennett
Bennett was acquired from the Las Vegas Raiders prior to the 2025 season. Starting the season on I.R., he was activated Week 11 with hopes to be the answer for who would be the second boundary cornerback next to Quinyon Mitchell, the main point of weakness of an excellent defense.
However, Bennett struggled to provide the stability the Eagles were looking for at the position. Bennett finished the 2025 season with a 34.0 PFF grade, the lowest mark among 114 qualified cornerbacks.
With the Eagles signing Riq Woolen this offseason, the path to a starting job is highly unlikely. In the unofficial depth chart, Bennett is on the third-string, ranked behind Jonathan Jones and Kelee Ringo.
