The Kansas City Chiefs‘ offense looked good in a season-opening win over the Denver Broncos last Monday. That unit looked elite on Sunday night.

Patrick Mahomes and the Chiefs’ offense exploded for 523 total yards in a 33-30 overtime win over the Indianapolis Colts. Despite giving up some chunk plays defensively, Kansas City relied on its offense to keep pace. And they did just that.

There was a lot to like in this game when the Chiefs had the ball. There are also some concerns on the other side of the ball. Here are the three winners and two losers from the Chiefs’ win over the Colts.

Winner: Patrick Mahomes

In just his second game back from a torn ACL, Mahomes looked like his old self on Sunday. The 31-year-old completed 32-of-47 passes for 382 yards and three touchdowns in the win. He looked cool and calm in the pocket, evading pressure and dropping dimes all night. He even used his legs a bit, a good sign after the injury.

It was Mahomes’ first game with 350+ passing yards and 3+ passing touchdowns since Week 1 of the 2022 season. That season ended with an MVP Award and Super Bowl victory for the Chiefs quarterback. The two-time MVP was excellent in this game.

Loser: Pass rush

The Chiefs’ pass rush left a lot to be desired in this game. They didn’t get home for a sack of Daniel Jones and struggled to generate much pressure when rushing four. The few times Jones took some hits were when Steve Spagnuolo brought a blitz.

Last week, the Chiefs were able to sack Bo Nix four times. It’s not time to panic about the pass rush quite yet, especially with Chris Jones still in the fold. But that group didn’t play up to expectations on Sunday.

Winner: Travis Kelce

Travis Kelce isn’t done just yet. The soon-to-be 37-year-old turned back the clock against the Colts. He caught nine passes for 101 yards and a touchdown. It was the first 100-yard receiving game for Kelce since the 2025 Wild Card win over the Texans.

It was a typical Kelce performance. He slipped out on play actions, found the open zone, and racked up yards after the catch. He padded his all-time yards after catch record among tight ends in the process. This was a throwback Kelce game and proves the legendary tight end still has some juice left in the tank.

Loser: L’Jarius Sneed

The Chiefs revamped their entire secondary this offseason, which included bringing back L’Jarius Sneed. There was hope that the former Titan could rekindle his career in the place he originally broke out. That hasn’t been the case so far.

Sneed found himself getting picked on all night as the Colts racked up explosive plays. He finished with seven total tackles and a pass defended, but the tape won’t be kind. The Chiefs may need to consider more snaps for rookie Mansoor Delane if this continues.

Winner: Kenneth Walker III

Just like last week, Kenneth Walker III is a clear winner. He rushed for 117 yards on 4.9 yards per carry against the Colts. He also added six receptions for 61 yards, showing off his ability to contribute as a receiver. He bounced off tacklers and showcased the elite vision that fans fell in love with last week.

Through two weeks, Walker is the NFL’s leading rusher with 290 yards on the ground. He’s been as advertised and is a massive reason why the Chiefs’ offense is humming on all cylinders.
