The Pittsburgh Steelers have several areas they could address as the NFL trade deadline approaches in less than a month. Whether they want to add another weapon to Aaron Rodgers’ offense or bolster their secondary for a playoff push, Pittsburgh has the draft capital to explore potential upgrades. With the deadline fast approaching, these three trade candidates are worth monitoring as the Steelers evaluate their options.
Not every trade target needs to be a superstar to make an impact. A player who fits Mike McCarthy’s system or brings valuable experience to the secondary could help Pittsburgh strengthen its roster for the second half of the season. Here are three potential trade targets the Steelers should keep an eye on as the deadline approaches.
Brian Thomas Jr.

For whatever reason, Thomas appears to have fallen down the Jacksonville Jaguars’ wide receiver target pecking order. However, he is hardly a first-round bust who has struggled throughout his NFL career. His rookie season in 2024 showed that he has the talent to develop into a legitimate WR1.
Thomas could now benefit from a fresh start with another team. Is he struggling to fit into Liam Coen’s offense, or is something happening behind the scenes that the public doesn’t know about? Regardless, Thomas could become available, and the Steelers have the draft capital to make a move for a young receiver with considerable upside.
Jalen Tolbert

Tolbert played under Mike McCarthy in Dallas from 2022 to 2024. McCarthy has already brought in a former Cowboys offensive player in Rico Dowdle, making Tolbert a logical name to monitor if the Steelers decide to pursue another offensive weapon.
Tolbert could offer Pittsburgh a relatively seamless transition because of his familiarity with McCarthy’s system. While he might not be the splashiest name on the trade market, that familiarity could help him contribute quickly. He is a player worth watching as the Steelers weigh their options.
Riq Woolen

If the Philadelphia Eagles decide to sell off talent amid uncertainty surrounding Jalen Hurts’ immediate future, the Steelers could inquire about Woolen. Pittsburgh could use an experienced cornerback to strengthen its secondary, and Woolen has the physical tools to fill that role.
Woolen emerged as a standout with the Seattle Seahawks early in his career, although he has not consistently matched that level of play since. His size, length and ability to operate in both man and zone coverage could still make him an intriguing trade deadline option if Philadelphia decides to move players. For the Steelers, he could represent an opportunity to add a physically gifted cornerback who may benefit from a change of scenery.
