Although the Philadelphia Eagles’ 2026 season is far from over, NFL fans are starting to speculate if Howie Roseman will trade away Saquon Barkley before the deadline.
Before the season even started, Philadelphia agreed to trade wide receiver A.J. Brown to the New England Patriots in exchange for a 2028 first-round pick and a 2027 fifth-rounder. The belief was that Philadelphia’s offense would lean heavily on its run game this fall, but that’s been nonexistent.
To make matters worse, the Eagles traded Pro Bowl center Cam Jurgens and a 2027 seventh-rounder to the Baltimore Ravens this Wednesday in exchange for a 2027 fifth-round pick and a 2028 second-round.
While another deal isn’t imminent at this time, some people are wondering if Barkley could be on the move.

Barkley is currently dealing with a hamstring injury and is listed as week-to-week. However, he’s expected to return to the gridiron sooner than later. In theory, another team could trade him for the second half of the season.
Zain Dhanani believes the Jacksonville Jaguars, Minnesota Vikings and Seattle Seahawks would all be intriguing landing spots for Barkley if he’s available.
Trading Saquon would be incredibly difficult for Eagles.
Moving on from Barkley makes sense if the Eagles want to rebuild, but trading away his contract would leave them with $26.4 million in dead cap next year.
The Eagles would be better off either trading Barkley in 2027 or outright cutting him with a post-June 1 designation in 2028.
Of course, we can’t rule out anything in the NFL and we can’t dismiss a wild move given Roseman’s history.
