If LeBron James chooses to play a 23rd season in the NBA, it might not be with the Los Angeles Lakers.
Even at 41 years old, James averaged 20.9 points, 7.2 assists and 6.1 rebounds per game for the Lakers during the 2025-26 regular season. His production mainly dipped because he took a back seat to All-Star guard Luka Doncic and Austin Reaves. Make no mistake though, he's still capable of carrying a team at times.
With that being said, Los Angeles might not be a great fit for James moving forward. On Tuesday's episode of "The Herd," Colin Cowherd and Nick Wright discussed potential landing spots for the future Hall of Famer.
Wright listed the Denver Nuggets, Golden State Warriors and New York Knicks as teams that should make a play for James this summer.
"Places like New York, Golden State, or even Denver might be more appealing than signing up for the final years of his basketball life being basically a rich man's Draymond Green," Wright said. "That's not how I think he wants to end his basketball career."

Would LeBron actually leave Los Angeles?
Roughly two months ago, ESPN's Dave McMenamin said James is undecided on whether or not he'll play next season. Nonetheless, he mentioned the Knicks and Warriors as options for the NBA's all-time leading scorer.
McMenamin also mentioned the Cleveland Cavaliers as an option for James. It would be cool to see him finish out his career with his hometown team.
As of this moment, James is set to be an unrestricted free agent this offseason.
