As war continues to break out in the Middle East, three former women's college basketball stars are currently stuck in Israel.

South Carolina women's basketball coach Dawn Staley announced on X, formerly known as Twitter, that three former Gamecocks stars are stuck in a war zone in Israel. She's asking for prayers and their safe return home.

Staley, arguably the best coach in the country, said that former Gamecock greats Tiffany Mitchell, Mikiah "Kiki" Herbert Harrigan and Destiny Littleton are stuck overseas at the moemnt.

"Please pray for our (those players) who are in a war zone in Israel!! We are working a plan to get home," she wrote.

"Let us pray for our loved ones to return home safely asap! Thank you in advance. 🙏🏾🙏🏾🙏🏾"

Women's basketball players will often join leagues overseas during the offseason, to supplement their income. Most WNBA players make low six figures in contracts from the league, but can earn a lot more by playing overseas, where women's basketball can be more lucrative.

Mitchell and Herbert Harrigan are former top 10 WNBA Draft picks. Mitchell was part of South Carolina’s first Final Four team with Staley in 2015, while Herbert Harrigan was part of the program’s national championship team in 2017.

Littleton had shared an update on X.

“I’m just trying to stay calm. I really don’t want to even be out here on the streets. I’ll keep you updated,” Littleton added.

Staley appreciates the prayers

Staley has taken to X to thank everyone for their thoughts and prayers regarding the situation with her former players.

"Thank you everyone for praying for our @GamecockWBB players and family members. Please keep them covered in prayer until they are home! Appreciate it!" she wrote on X.

Our thoughts continue to be with the three women's basketball stars that are currently stuck overseas.
