Emeka Egbuka, Tampa Bay Buccaneers
8/14 update: Egbuka suffered a sprained toe during an Aug. 12 joint practice with the New York Jets. Initial indications suggest the injury is minor, although the Buccaneers have yet to establish a firm timetable. The issue bears monitoring but doesn't materially change his breakout outlook at this point.
A 938-yard rookie season established Egbuka as an immediate contributor, but his 2026 ceiling extends well beyond that promising debut. He caught 63 passes, averaged 14.9 yards per reception, and scored six touchdowns despite handling a demanding role from the beginning of his first season. Much of his success came in the first half of the year, too. Tampa Bay plans to streamline his responsibilities under offensive coordinator Zac Robinson, allowing him to play faster and focus more heavily on creating mismatches. Another year with Baker Mayfield could push Egbuka toward his first 1,000-yard season and consistent fantasy WR2 production in his bid to pick up the slack following Mike Evans' departure.
Luther Burden III, Chicago Bears
8/11 update: Burden recently suffered a groin injury that will cost him about a month leading up to Week 1, but he remains on track for the opener. That increases his volatility, but it also introduces room for better value on draft day as he was starting to climb up boards prior to the injury. More risk-averse managers may want to look elsewhere. The following recommendation stands as long as he remains on track for the opener.
Chicago plans to feature Burden more heavily after he produced 47 receptions for 652 yards and two scores as a rookie. His explosiveness, strength after the catch, and ability to create production from manufactured touches make him a natural fit for Ben Johnson’s offense. Burden also gained confidence and developed stronger chemistry with Caleb Williams during offseason practices. Larger route and target shares with DJ Moore gone, plus more designed opportunities, should help him build on his productive finish to 2025. Expect Burden to emerge as a dependable fantasy starter with several weekly boom performances.
Matthew Golden, Green Bay Packers
Green Bay has a clearer role available for Golden after Romeo Doubs departed and Dontayvion Wicks was traded during the offseason. The 2025 first-round pick managed only 29 receptions for 361 scoreless yards as a rookie, but the Packers remain confident in his long-term ceiling. Golden has approached his second offseason with greater confidence and a stronger understanding of the offense. Increased playing time, improved timing with Jordan Love, and his downfield speed could produce a major statistical jump and regular flex value in 2026. Now, it must be stated that his style of play could lead to erratic returns, so bear that in mind when targeting him as a WR4-plus, depending on league size.
Josh Downs, Indianapolis Colts
Downs already has established himself as a high-volume slot receiver, and Michael Pittman Jr.’s departure creates room for his role to dramatically expand in 2026. Indianapolis is expected to move him throughout the formation, increase his route participation, and feature Downs as one of Daniel Jones’ primary options on short and intermediate throws. TE Tyler Warren figures to be Downs' chief competition working those areas of the field as an eventually healthy Alec Pierce (ankle) supplies the offense's vertical element. While Downs projects as the steadier source of receptions and weekly PPR production, it's a challenge to see him being better than a fringe fantasy No. 2/WR3.
Rashid Shaheed, Seattle Seahawks
A full offseason in Seattle should help Shaheed earn a larger offensive role after joining the Seahawks midway through 2025. He recorded 59 receptions for 687 yards and two touchdowns between New Orleans and Seattle, but only 15 catches came after the trade. His elite speed, return ability, and effectiveness in the running game gives the coaching staff several ways to create touches beyond traditional routes.
