The Detroit Lions will look to get back in the win column in Week 3 after falling to the Buffalo Bills in Week 2. Head coach Dan Campbell’s group will face the New York Jets on Sunday at Ford Field in a contest between two 1-1 squads.
Detroit hasn’t played its best through two weeks. The team nearly blew a 21-0 second-half lead to the New Orleans Saints in Week 1, but scraped out a victory in overtime. Last Thursday, the Bills’ dynamic offense was too much to handle for the Lions’ defense, and the offense couldn’t do enough to overcome it despite scoring 31 points.
The Jets aren’t the most formidable opponent, but they have shown promise so far this season. That said, let’s take a look at two bold predictions for Sunday’s game between Detroit and New York.
Lions Win… But by Only One Score
The Lions have a more talented roster than the Jets, but this game should still be close. New York beat the Tennessee Titans in Week 1 and played the Green Bay Packers close in Week 2 despite losing in overtime, so head coach Aaron Glenn’s group has shown it can hang around.
However, the offensive attack of quarterback Jared Goff, running back Jahmyr Gibbs, wide receivers Amon-Ra St. Brown and Jameson Williams, and tight end Sam LaPorta should be too much for the Jets’ defense. Lions superstar edge rusher Aidan Hutchinson should also be able to wreak havoc against the two young Jets tackles, Olu Fashanu and Armand Membou.
Jameson Williams Posts Over 100 Yards and a Touchdown

It’s been a slow start to the year for Williams, who has just six receptions and 78 yards with no touchdowns this season. However, the explosive playmaker out of Alabama is due for his 2026 breakout game on Sunday.
Though the Jets secondary has exceeded expectations so far, it has yet to face an offense like the Lions. With a lot of attention on Gibbs, St. Brown, and LaPorta, Williams should face favorable matchups and win them with his speed and quickness at the top of his routes.
Expect Williams to post prolific numbers this week and quiet the doubters.
